Item and Pricing Overview

SaaS Web is pre-configured with reference data - including the latest MBS Items.

SAAS Medical Systems will also provide guidance and recommendations when during the on-boarding period - but for large Practices - there is a need to understand how to configure and maintain Items for each modality.

Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) - MBS Online

MBS Online contains the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), a listing of the Medicare services subsidised by the Australian government.

The Schedule is part of the wider Medicare Benefits Scheme managed by the Department of Health and administered by Department of Human Services. MBS Online contains the latest MBS information and is updated as changes to the MBS occur.

MBS Updates and MBS Item Maintenance

SaaS Web is updated with the latest MBS Online data as they become available.

How you implement these changes in your Practice is managed by the MBS Item Maintenance utility.

The Items structure is based on the Australian Government’s Medicare Items (MBS), but can also be configured with AMA or any other item codes required.

Item Groups: These 'Groups' of Items are the Australian HIC Item Groups. For multi-disciplinary practices, the Item Group facilitates finding and selecting the correct billing item.

Item Setup – Item Types

Item Type: The Item Type allows you to categorise billing item types to suit your practice. These can be cross-referenced with the HIC Category Codes.

Item Setup – Item Fee Level

Item Fee Level: Allows you to configure any number of fee levels to be applied against an billing item. Note that if you are billing HIC fee levels - it it essential that MR - Medicare Rebate, and MS - Medicare Schedule are included.

Item Setup – Fee Level Type

Feelevel Types: As above, Medicare Rebate and Medicare Schedule must be retained for the correct billing of Australian Medicare.

Item Maintenance

The current HIC Items can be imported.

If you intend to bill with
AMA scheduled fees, the equivalent AMA code can be linked to any HIC Item Code.

The data range allows for fee increases to be pre-entered.

The
Scheduled Amount, Discount Amount, Rebate Amount, and the Gap Amount can be maintained for each item.

Each Item can be associated with a
Group and an Item Type.

Drop Down Display

The Quick-Pick Items drop-down display in the Billing screen is managed in Item Maintenance.

If the Drop-Doen Display check-box is ticked - then the item will be displayed in the Quick-Pick Items selection list.

Uncheck and Save the record if you do not want an item to be displayed.

Managing Quick-Pick Items will depend on the type of Practice - but in general - it is recommended to use the Quick-Pick rather than doing an Item Lookup.
