The Medicare Online Overrides screen can be used to add additional information on each service claim where required. Providing this information where required may allow your claims to be automatically processed without recourse to Medicare operator intervention to resolve issues.
Not Normal Aftercare
You can bill an attendance item during an aftercare period if the service isn’t normal aftercare. A service isn’t normal aftercare if you see a patient for: - an unrelated condition
- complications from the operation.
Not Duplicate Service
- Duplicate service override indicator. Either set time of service or include information in the Service Text field to support your payment
Not Multiple Procedure You can bill multiple attendances for the same patient on the same day if:
- they’re separate attendances with a reasonable lapse of time between them
- the subsequent attendances aren’t a continuation of the other attendances.
Self Deemed Self-deemed codes indicate that a health professional has provided a service that would usually be a referred service without a referral or request.
SD - self-deemed - SD is a service provided by a consultant physician or specialist as an additional service to a valid request.
Substituted Service SS - substituted service - SS is a service provided that has replaced the original service requested
