Note: This guide refers to SAAS Cloud Desktop procedures, but the procedures are identical with the  SAAS Web procedures.

This Guide is for the basic Patient Billing and Medicare Online claiming process.

Other important procedures such as setting up Operator Defaults, managing Patient Accounts, and setting Medicare Online Overrides are, covered in other User Guides.

Medicare Bulk Billing

Ensure that you have select a Patient Account for Medicare Bulk Billing.

If required you can Add a new Patient Account or Modify the existing Patient Account (this will also be dependant on standard procedures with your Practice).

Once you have entered the billing details - the only available option for Medicare Bulk Billing is [Continue]
The Medicare Online Billing screen is now shown.

Here there are *three options that need to be explained.

Start Claim Process

This will send the claim now. No 'batching' is required.

As you are always online - we recommend this method. The response times from Medicare are normally no more than a couple of seconds.

Bulk Bill Stored for later transmission
In large group Practices, it may be deemed appropriate to use 'Stored for later transmission' - and the 'Vouchers' must then be batched and transmitted as a separate procedure.

Save Patient Voucher for later claim
This option allows patient Vouchers to be saved but not yet processed for Medicare claims. Vouchers added at a later time, later date, can subsequently be processed in a single claim.

*Any of these options can be hidden using an advanced configuration setting. e.g. If you only use the Stored for later transmission method, the Start Claim Process can be hidden - and vice versa.
When you click Start Claim Process - the claim is send to Medicare.
(Bulk Billing is not fully processed by Medicare in real-time - but if the claim has passed basic validation, this is reported as a successful claim transmission.

You can print the DB4 (configured either as direct to printer or with an on-screen preview).

When you click Continue - you will be returned to the Patient Billing screen.
