When you create an Invoice in Patient Billing that will be be submitted as a Medicare Online claim, the patient must have a Patient Account assigned for the appropriate Billing Type.
There are *three Billing Types applicable for Medicare Online: - Private This is for Medicare Patient Claims
- Medicare (Bulk Billing) For Medicare Bulk Billing Claims
- Veteran Affairs For DVA Medicare and DVA Allied Services Claims
* Additionally there is an ECLIPSE Billing Type specific to In-Patient billing. This is covered in the ECLIPSE User Guides.
Although the basic billing details are identical, the format claims submitted through each of these Medical Online channels differs, and the Billing Type determines the workflow required to submit claims.
